KENTLAND, Ind.— A body found on March 30 in rural Jefferson Township in Newton County was identified Tuesday morning as 30-year-old Nicole L. Bowen of West Lafayette, according to a news release.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office said in the release that foul play is suspected, but there is no indication or reason to believe there is an active threat to the community. Kentland is 41 miles northwest of West Lafayette.
Newton County Sheriff’s Capt. Shannon Cothran said Tuesday afternoon that no further information would be released at that time as the investigation was ongoing.
According to the release, assisting agencies in the investigation include Indiana State Police, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the Jasper County Coroner’s office, the Rensselaer Police Department and the FBI.
